It seems like a hot new trend, but yoga actually began more than 3,000 years ago in India. The word yoga is Sanskrit (one of the ancient languages of the East). It means to "yoke," or unite, the mind, body, and spirit.
Although yoga includes physical exercise, it is also a lifestyle practice for which exercise is just one component. Training your mind, body, and breath, as well as connecting with your spirituality, are the main goals of the yoga lifestyle.
Bikram Yoga is suited for beginners and experienced practitioners alike. Never done yoga? No flexibility? Maybe a little nervous? No problem! Come on in and we’ll help you every step of the way. Be a part of an amazing community of people committed to laugh, learn, grow and sweat!
Created by Bikram Choudhury, this series of 26 hatha yoga poses and breathing exercises is designed to work the entire body in 90 minutes. It is an exhilarating workout done in a heated room to help the muscles stretch safely and detoxify the body through sweating.
Regular yoga practice stimulates and balances the endocrine, nervous, immune, and cardiovascular systems. It alleviates pain and symptoms of chronic illness. It increases strength, stamina and flexibility. It calms and unclutters the mind so one can begin to realize the deeper knowledge and potential within oneself.
The end result is you ROCK – mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
